Happy New Year!

Now that the celebrating has come to a close and we're packing up all the decorations and items for merry making, consider having your child sort them into groups.  These could be grouped by color, or material, or by how we use them, etc. There are numerous possibilities!  Some may find that somethings can fit into more than one category.  That's OK...have fun with it!!!

Sorting is an exercise that is crucial to all grade levels and all topics in math.  It can be as simple as sorting shapes and colors or as complex as sorting types of numbers and equations.  It builds the foundation for many higher level thinking problems.

Come join us at the National Title 1 Conference in Nashville, TN on January 21, 2013.  Stop by the Mathematically Speaking, Inc. booth to chat about standards based materials and staff development opportunities for your district.
